WELCOME TO THE PFS FAMILY DEON!

“After finishing high school, I hadn’t yet decided on a career-path to follow and decided to take a gap-year.  I went to Canada to work on a rugby summer camp as  I knew that this would generate some very welcome income and also give me an opportunity to experience life abroad.  When I got back after a year I went flying with one of my friends who had just acquired his PPL and I absolutely loved it.  I started to seriously consider a career in Aviation.  I had to however make a plan to get the necessary finance and I went to the UK for another year to earn enough money to pay for my PPL which I finished in 2004 at Nelair in Nelspruit which is my hometown.   During that same year I enrolled for B.Com Aviation Management at the University of Pretoria and obtained my degree at the end of 2006.  I was then ready to focus my full attention on getting my CPL.  I continued my training at Babcock Central Flying Academy at Grand Central Airport.  After another stint in the UK to pay for my IF Rating, I obtained my CPL in June 2009.  In November of 2009 I completed my Instructor’s Rating, also at Babcock CFA.

After sending out numerous CV’s to flying schools, PFS was the first to invite me for an interview.  After passing my proficiency check with the CFI, Jean Chelin, I started giving instruction.  PFS has welcomed me with open arms and working here feels like home away from home.  I’m looking forward to a great career in Aviation and many hours of Flight Instruction at PFS.

When I’m not flying I’m either taking part in some type of sport activity or watching the latest rugby game on TV.  I am a staunch Sharks supporter and being open and honest about that in the middle of Blue Bull territory must say something about my fearlessness.”
